This cast brass unisex pendant by Margarita Myrogianni, with a matching chain, is inspired from an Archaic period (6th century BCE) marble sphinx sculpture of the Acropolis Museum in Athens.

A significant figure in ancient Greek art, the Sphinx, according to the Greek mythology, was a female monster with the body of a lion, the head and breast of a woman, eagle's wings and, a serpent's tail. She is mythicized as mysterious, treacherous and merciless, that would kill and eat those who could not answer her riddle.
