Yria Chorianopoulou
Photography
Yria was born in Athens, Greece in 1988.
She gathered experiences from countries abroad, and is based back home.
She first entered the Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts of the Technical University of Athens, but, wanting to widen her artistic field, moved on to enter the Department of Fine Arts and Art Sciences of the University of Ioannina. Since then, photography has been her main medium of expression, helping to illustrate different concepts.
A fundamental part of her artistic process is that of revisiting ongoing photographic projects, in order to locate repeating subjects and themes. Through this ongoing procedure, new focus points are formed, leading to new reflections and explorations.
Yria has taken part in photography competitions, group exhibitions and festivals, most notably the Life Framer Photography Competition (2015) and the Chania International Photo Festival (2021).
