Mixed Media

He was born in 1981 in Ioannina, where he lives and works. He studied at the School of Fine Arts, AUTh. in the workshops of Evangelos Dimitreas, and Makis Theofylaktopoulos, from where he graduated in June 2006 with honours. He has completed postgraduate studies in History and Theory of Art and is a PhD candidate at the University of Ioannina. He has had several solo and group exhibitions and his works are in museums and private collections in Greece. From 2008 to 2011 he taught painting and art history at the TEI of Epirus while from 2012 he teaches at the Secondary Education.

Human groups and the formality of their virtual recording on the canvas mainly inspire his work. For the artist, they represent a continuous journey between the everyday and the transcendental, the objective and the subjective, the classical and the contemporary. Through the depiction of human figures, as a group or individually, he tries to achieve a combination of the realistic element with the absolute abstract purity of the line, beyond the academic notion of integration and merging the form into a perfectly geometric space.
