MagnaDi

Silk Scarves

Margianna Dragoumanou is the founder and designer of the silk scarves collection MagnaDi. Her aim is to draw contemporary designs full of color that reflect the passion for Greek art, culture and history. Given the place she grew up, Nafplio, a seaside town with strong historical elements, she learned from an early age to value nature and cultural traditions and to become fond of the color blue.

After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Greece, she continued her studies in the UK. She successfully completed her Master’s degree in Marketing and Management, and then jumped at the opportunity to follow Design Studies at the University of the Arts in London.

During her studies in London, she was given the opportunity to work side by side with a well-known independent artist in London and later on for a prestigious interior design company in Chelsea. Inspired by these work environments, in addition to the influence of her artistic mother, who draws on silk, she was motivated to indulge in her creative need to make unique and colorful creations; a need to combine cultural references, her passion for history and myths, yet in a contemporary and fashionable way, producing something authentic, true to her Greek heritage and the Greek summer.

The production of the scarves takes place in the Greek North, in the town of Soufli. Back in the days, Soufli was well-known among textile companies and manufacturers of Greek silk. Today, there is only one textile mill, producing silken fabrics, and possesses all needed equipment for digital printing.
